Munich disappears behind the convoy as the Bavarian foothills rise ahead — the first kilometres of a winter journey built around the road itself.
Trip Overview
The Alps are not meant to be rushed. The Great Alps is an eight-day founder-led winter self-drive through Germany, Austria, Italy and Switzerland — from Munich into Innsbruck, across the Brenner Pass to the Dolomites, through the Engadin to St. Moritz and back to Munich. Across approximately 1,100 kilometres, the journey balances convoy driving with time to actually experience each destination. Two nights in Innsbruck and two in Val Gardena give the middle of the expedition room to breathe, while the single longer driving day is deliberately saved until the end. Created as a special edition for the Epic Road Trips community, this journey keeps the things that matter most: extraordinary roads, winter-ready vehicles, handpicked stays, founder-led support and the shared experience of crossing the Alps behind the wheel.

Day-by-Day Itinerary
Munich → Innsbruck (Arrival in Munich & The First Alpine Drive)
Arrive in Munich and meet the ERT team at the vehicle handover point. After vehicle allocation, documentation, walkaround and winter-driving briefing, the convoy turns south toward Austria. The first 150 kilometres through the Bavarian foothills are intentionally relaxed — time to settle into the vehicles, radios and rhythm of the convoy before arriving beneath the mountains in Innsbruck.
